Scientists Have Found the Way To Edit Human Genome

A new CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) system was introduced by the scientists in order to improve the precision and power of the existing genome engineering. They are said to help the bacteria in the body to fight against the viral attacks. Thus, they are widely used as genome editing tools in the health industry. Gamete is the haploid set of chromosomes that are found in every single cell of multicellular organisms. This has already helped in tremendous improvement and advancement of genetic engineering. One of the prominent leaders in this human genome project is Eric Lander, who quoted that Cpf1 can be harnessed in order to improve the remarkable features of the human genome project. dna

The team of scientists also has the person who first harnessed the CRISPR-Cas9 system. The newly discovered Cpf1 system has a lot more features that the previous Cas9 system and is comparatively more powerful and precise. The DNA cutting enzyme which is Cas9 is a complex with 2 small RNA’S whereas the Cpf1 system is smaller and comprises of only a single RNA. Zhang and his collaborators who are the team of the human genome project stated that the goal of the project is to work on the development of tools that not only enhance and accelerate the research, but also cause the development of the therapeutic applications.

John van der Oost, a microbiologist at Wageningen University has said that the introduction of the all new Cpf1 might be just the tip of the iceberg. The new Cpf1 is said to cut much farther away from the recognition site which means to say that even if, there is a chance of the targeted gene becoming mutated at the site where it was cut, then it still could be cut which gives it multiple opportunities to be re-cut again for the further editing process.
