Asus is the latest international smartphone manufacturing company that is going to join the ‘Make in India’ initiative. It is an initiative of the Indian Government to encourage Multinational and domestic companies to manufacture their products in India. The Taiwanese company has announced that it will start the local manufacturing of smartphones in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh in India.
Asus has entered into a partnership with Foxconn, the popular contract manufacturer, to create the smartphones within the country. Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has already teamed up with Foxconn to create smartphones at the Sri town plant in Andhra Pradesh. Asus can kick-start its producing operations with Zenfone 2 Laser which can before long be followed by ZenFone Go. The company aims to manufacture 150,000 smartphones per month by the end of the current financial year, which will account for almost 80% of sales in India.
