New player making its entry in self-drive rental services named, Avis

On-demand transportation services have been segmented into various types of direct and indirect services. In India, car rental service market is flooded with loads of well-established players and some new players are all set to make their debut, on the grounds of head-to-head competition. There are some players who exist in the industry from a long time but are transforming their way of doing business.

Avis India, being one of such players, who is an existing operator of the chauffeur and self-drive rentals along with B2B car-leasing service, has launched its mobile application. The application will be available on Android and iOS platforms and will enable the customers to book the car instantly. This application will offer both self-drive and chauffeur drive services.

The car rental company operates across 20 major cities such as Mumbai, Gurugram, Noida, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bhubaneshwar, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Trivandrum, Shimla, Rishikesh, Kolkata, New Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Cochin, and Udaipur.

Sunil Gupta, CEO and Managing Director, Avis India, while talking about the latest introduction of the app, said, “We always emphasize on saving customer’s valuable time and make the car rental a superior experience. In coming period, the company also projects to expand its services beyond the Indian boundaries. It is looking forward to tap the international opportunities. We would provide the Avis network in 168 countries. The app will also allow chauffeur drive bookings to serve its enormous network of corporate clients.”

“To serve the customers with wide range of cars, we have utilized a refined telematics solution on digital mobile and web platform. The application will act as key and navigation once the customer completes the booking procedures,” he added.

Avis India is a joint venture amid Oberoi Group (40%) and Avis Budget Group of the U.S. (60%) and holds about 12% market share in the car leasing market in India. About 40% of the company’s revenue is generated from this segment. The company has about 5,500 cars in fleets across India.

Looking at the strong business portfolio of the company, it is anticipated that the car leasing and rental industry will soon have a tough competitor.###
