Hero has been a dominating player in the two-wheeler market. It’s low maintenance, fuel efficient engine, and affordability are some of the prominent factors that have forced the company to develop more of such competent motorcycles that can meet the requirement of the young generation. In an attempt to increase the range of product portfolio, it developed some such motorcycle that performed well post-launch but couldn’t maintain the sales up to the mark.
So taking into the consideration that the sales and changing demand toward elegant looking bikes, Hero MotoCorp decided to discontinue the production of seven of its motorcycles at the time of BSIV norms transition. Hero is currently planning to introduce some new upgraded models in the future.
Karizma which was the flagship motorcycle of the company for long duration was discontinued, which disappointed many bike enthusiasts, but the good news is, the new Karizma with a modern look is projected to come back soon.
Coming on to the vehicles that are discontinued, first, comes the Hunk. The Hunk was developed with loads of tunings and powerful engine. It was introduced as macho-styled 150 cc motorcycle. Since it was launched, the Hero muscle Hunk didn’t stay updated for a long duration, as a result there were some elegant and powerful wheels already available in the market, which eventually decline the sale figures drastically. Hero’s Ignitor and Glamour witnessed the same scenario.
Hero Passion in some time was awarded as a bestselling motorcycle but it has been discontinued due to the presence of its upgraded version Passion Pro i3S. Hero claims that installation of i-Smart technology in recently launched Achiever, Splendor, and Passion will effectively boost the kilometers per liter.
At present stage, Hero has brought out various models for sale, depending on their engine size, in the case of 150 cc, Xtreme sports and Achiever is out for sale. Passion Pro i3S, Splendor iSmart 110, HF Deluxe Eco, HF Deluxe in commuter segment, and Glamour Fi and Glamour SV in 125 cc segment.
Looking at the drastic decision taken by the company, let’s assume that Hero is planning to roll out some fascinating vehicles in the market.###
