The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Agency (NPPA) has already reduced the prices of top 54 obligatory medicines. The news came as a surprise. This price-cut has gone up to 55 percent. This has been done in order to make the important medicines easily available and affordable for a wide stratum of people.


These drugs include the medicines that are used commonly for the diseases like diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, and cancer. Though this notice was issued on Tuesday, the distributors, manufacturers, and the retailers have been asked for implementing these revised prices immediately.

After this step by NPPA, purchasing the medicines will not put a heavy dent on people’s pocket. These new prices clearly indicate the progressive step taken towards the creation of easily accessible and cost-effective health care system.
