Motorola Moto X Play Review: Processor, Display, Camera and more

Motorola recently announced two flagship model this year 2015, namely Motorola Moto X Pure/Style and Motorola Moto X Play. Motorola Moto X Pure/Style, which as the name suggests, is superior in looks and style, whereas Moto X Play is a better option for the entertainment point of view.motorola-moto-x-style-moto-x-play

One of the biggest reasons to buy this phone is the long battery life, which is hard to find in smartphones. Motorola claims that the device will last around 2 days, even if you use 4G LTE and other high battery consuming features. The device also includes turbo charge technology, which is the best quick charging technology amongst those are available on the market, according to Motorola. The phone comes with a 21 megapixel camera, which is rare to find in this segment.

Design:

Moto X Play follows the phablet-trend like all of its other competitors with a 5.5-inch screen. But, even after the bigger size, Moto X Play doesn’t feel bulky, when you’re holding it. In fact, it feels pretty comfortable and the user can easily move their fingers to all corners of the screen easily. The device looks similar to its predecessors and the device weighs 169g and is easy to operate with one hand.

The rear of the device is curved with a rubberized texture, available in different colors, which feels good and gives a better grip. According to claims made by the company, the device is “water repellent” and it can resist against some splashes of water or if you get drenched in the rain for  a while.

Display:

Motorola Moto X Play is well packed with a 5.5 inch display with 1080p quad- HD display and with a DPI of 403. The device is quite enough to produce brighter display, when the surrounding is too bright. The device comes with two screen modes “normal” and “vibrant”, but it doesn’t affect the experience much. The device has Gorilla Glass 3, which makes the handset even more durable.

Camera:

The device comes with a 21 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. The performance of the camera is pretty impressive and autofocus of the device doesn’t work well in low light. It is advised that, instead of using autofocus, using manual focus will be a better option for the shooting images in the low light.

Battery:

The device comes with a 3650 mAh battery which is one of the strongest reasons to buy this phone, as the phone is expected to run more than 48 hours  of time for a single charge.

Processor:

The handset powered with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC and loaded with 2GB of RAM. Snapdragon 615 offers quad core of the processor, with different sets of processing speed combined together to form a powerful processor. In the meanwhile, 615 is quite old, while comparing to recent Snapdragon 810 and 806 Processor and the processor is enough to play High Definition videos without any sort of lags.

Price:

The 16GB unlocked version of the device comes with a price tag of $433 (in the Amazon, at the time of writing), and will be a good device on this segment.

Verdict:

Motorola Moto X Play is a great phone, in terms of performance and feel (although, it could have used some more style to it) at a pretty decent price and won’t disappoint you in any aspect. For this segment, Motorola Moto X will be an excellent device for those, who want to live along with their smartphone forever.
