Narsingh Yadav, the 26-year old wrestler is most likely to go to Rio Olympics in place of Sushil Kumar who is requesting a trial from WFI (Wrestling Federation of India). The WFI made the things very clear by saying that it is not Sushil’s demand to make and he never made any formal request for changing the tradition of sending a wrestler who wins the Olympics quota.

Narsingh had secured India’s first Olympic quota in wrestling by winning bronze medal at Las Vegas in the World Championships last year. Sushil has shifted to 74Kg from 66Kg in year 2014 and has demanded the selection for Rio Olympics since then.

The 32-year old wrestler Sushil Kumar said, “Whoever is stronger and better than us must be sent to Rio Olympics. I am in for the trials so as to determine who is better. Our government & the federation had spent too much of money on me so that I can do well for the country.”

Sarbananda Sonowal, the sports minister has said that the decision totally lies with the federation about the choice of a wrestler.
